The problem with brand identity (romance author edition)

For a little over a year now, a good friend from college and I started chatting about our obsession with romance books. We had kept in touch over the years, but were delighted to find that we’d begun reading (and LOVING) some of the same romance/romantasy books!

For any romance reader, you tend to gravitate towards the books and authors that speak to you. Whether it’s a fun play on a beloved-by-you trope or a niche subgenre that makes you giddy, there’s always at least one romance author out there that can help scratch that itch.

My dear friend, Ashley, asked what I thought my ‘thing’ was and as inelegantly as I put it in the video, it still captured the heart of my message.

I want readers to have all the good feelings when reading my stories. I want them to be intrigued by the setup (maybe even a bit wary) and then delighted and surprised by the road to a happy ending.

Ashley and I talk about it a little more here, but we’d love to hear what you look for when searching out your next romance read. Comment below!
